Venture Debt is a type of loan designed specifically for high growth VC or PE backed companies. These companies will often be revenue generating but still in the loss making stage. As a result they will often fall outside the criteria required for high street bank lending, especially given the size of the loan often required.

These loans are designed to provide the working capital required while the business is still burning cash, and thus avoid the need for additional equity between funding rounds, or the need to dilute equity by existing shareholders.
